With passion for perfection
For the controlled and
risk-minimized harvesting
of a connective tissue graft
with a homogenous thickness
over the entire length.
Product application
The aesthetic success in surgical interventions in Dental Implantology
and Periodontology is always in the focus. The main prerequisite for
predictable aesthetic success is the soft tissue management to thicken
the gingival tissues, cover recession defects or establish or enlarge the
zone of keratinized tissue.
The gold standard in such mucogingival surgical interventions is
the autologous connective tissue graft (CT-graft), with or without a
keratinized portion. In general, the harvesting of an autologous CT-
graft from the palate is described as a technically di cult procedure
with a high complication rate, particularly with regard to the damage of
the major palatine artery or a perforation of the palatal tissue.
Using the proper application of the twin scalpel blade holder by Dr.
Solakoglu these risks are minimized. The parallel arrangement of the
scalpel blades at a distance of 2 mm, a homogeneous CT-graft can be
harvested over the entire length. Using the scalpel blades oriented
parallel to the hard palate the risk of perforation is minimized.
The slightly staggered arrangement of the scalpel blades allows the
surgeon to orient the shorter blade towards the hard palate and thus
to reduce the penetration depth of the blade on the side facing the
palate. This minimizes the risk on damaging the major palatine artery
on one side, and allows on the other side, to maximize the graft height.
Nevertheless, the removal of a CT-graft is as technically challenging
procedure and should be performed by an experienced surgeon.
Before using this instrument a hands-on course is highly
recommended.
Product application
The twin scalpel blade holder
is inserted parallel to the bony
palate for graft removal. The
shorter blade is facing the hard
palate the longer side the soft
tissue.
The twin scalpel blade holder
is inserted to the maximum
depth. Both blades are
carefully moved mesially.
A homogeneous
graft of 2 mm
thickness is now
carefully harvested.
A securing suture for
the CT-graft is highly
recommended.
On this model the correct
approach of the twin scalpel
blade holder is shown. The
shorter blade is facing the hard
palate, the longer side the soft
tissue.
