The feedback from the course participants was consistently positive. The aim of this course in Nuremberg was to give the participants an overview of the diagnostics and therapy of peri-implant infections as well as the various surgical techniques used in plastic-aesthetic periodontal and peri-implant surgery. The speaker, Prof. Dr. Dr. Anton Sculean, M.S., definitely succeeded in this. In doing so, he demonstrated therapy concepts that enable the achievement of predictable results.

The afternoon focused on practical exercises on the porcine jaw. The participants trained with microsurgical instruments from the Concept of Bern developed with Prof. Sculean, as well as suture materials and blades, all provided by the stoma® Academy. Under the expert guidance of the specialist, they learned, among other techniques, the modified coronally advanced tunnel (MCAT) and the laterally closed tunnel (LCT) with the use of connective tissue graft or collagen matrix to cover singular and multiple recessions.

Prof. Anton Sculean is currently ranked number 1 worldwide according to the World Ranking of Top Experts in Periodontology, has been awarded numerous research prizes and is the author of more than 420 publications in peer reviewed journals. Prof. Sculean has been Director of the Department of Periodontology at the University of Bern since 2008.
