Course Review: Augmentative Implantology

The course “Bone Augmentation Procedures – Options, Methods and Materials (incl. Live Surgery)” provided participants with an in-depth insight into modern augmentative techniques in implantology.

Under the guidance of Dr. Jochen Tunkel, a long-standing, well-recognized lecturer and practicing specialist, both theoretical foundations and clinically proven techniques were comprehensively presented. Even during the theoretical sessions, lively professional discussions emerged, highlighting the strong practical relevance and the high level of participant engagement.

A particular highlight was the live surgery demonstrating bone augmentation using the shell technique, complemented by hands-on exercises on models and pig jaws. These enabled participants to directly apply the knowledge gained and to practice the techniques in a safe and structured manner. The course took place directly at the lecturer’s private practice in Bad Oeynhausen and was organized by the Stoma Academy.

In the course evaluations, participants especially emphasized the strong practical focus and the open professional exchange. Overall, participants expressed a high level of satisfaction and gained valuable insights for their daily clinical practice.
