Dentists train incision techniques, suture techniques and wound treatment on pig’s ears and oranges

This Stoma hands-on workshop with specialist Dr. med. dent. Stefan Ulrici was addressed to dentists, assistant dentists and endodontists who infrequently perform dental surgery in everyday practice and want to refresh and consolidate their knowledge about it.

In the dental competence center "DENTALE" in Leipzig, the speaker explained to the participants indications, high-risk patients and any pre- or post-medications first. In addition, he showed which adequate incision technique should be used and which suture technique fits. Dr. Ulrici also demonstrated which thread and needle sizes should best be used with each suture technique.

In the practical hands-on part, the participants could then apply their knowledge from the theoretical part to a pig's ear and an orange to give themselves routine for use in their practice. Dr. Ulrici also asked the participants about their concerns for certain techniques. Afterwards, he was able to respond in detail to these individual needs due to the deliberately small group. As in every Stoma hands-on workshop, Stoma provided instruments, blades, sutures, etc. in sufficient amount for the practical exercises on loan.
