Stoma / Storz am Mark welcomes Volker Kauder

On the occasion of his summer tour in 2018, CDU / CSU parliamentary leader Volker Kauder visited the traditional company and got an insight into the structure and the range of services of Stoma / Storz am Mark through a production tour and a presentation by Martin Mazzeo, member of the management.

The problems with the fulfillment of the new legal requirements were, above all, topic during the visit. The MDR (Medical Device Regulation) requirements for medical device manufacturers in the EU are being increased, which leads to increased efforts in order to meet the required guidelines.

These additional efforts are reflected in higher prices for end consumers in Germany and the EU, as well as the competitiveness of global exports outside the EU. In particular, Mr. Kauder was made aware of the problem that it is unlikely that the Notified Bodies who are responsible for the file review, will be able to be accredited on time. This means that the conformity of the affected companies cannot be granted on time. This in turn means that from 26.05.2020 certain products in the EU area may no longer be sold. Finally, Martin Mazzeo gave a letter to Mr. Kauder summarizing the problem situation.

Instrument manufacturer Stoma / Storz am Mark in Liptingen celebrates its 100th anniversary next year and has already been preparing this anniversary for many months. Founded in 1919 by Walter Storz in Tuttlingen at the market place, the company is still in family hands today. Today, the granddaughter of the founder, Tina Storz-Mazzeo, manages the fortunes of the family business. In order to remain competitive and meet the new legal requirements in the field of medical technology, the small / medium-sized company invested and will invest heavily in reconstruction measures and machinery.
