stoma® micro-screw is the focus of the practical excercises with Dr. Tunkel

For their continuing education, eleven dentists traveled to the dental practice Tunkel & Tunkel in Bad Oeynhausen to learn more about the possibilities, methods and materials for bone augmentation measures from speaker Dr. Jochen Tunkel.

In this practical course, the specialist in periodontology, implantology and oral surgery dealt with questions such as: Is autologous bone irreplaceable as the gold standard or are equivalent methods available? What do allogeneic bone substitute materials do and how safe is their use?

On the basis of numerous clinical images and video demonstrations, Dr. Tunkel showed the techniques, methods and materials of implantological/surgical procedures in a practical manner. In a live surgery during the course, Dr. Tunkel demonstrated a bone augmentation with the bone shell technique. Among other things, stoma® micro-screws and the bone graft holding forceps developed with Dr. Tunkel were used for this purpose, as well as the stoma® instruments from the Bad Oeynhausen concept. In order to facilitate direct implementation and handling, the partly experienced users were then allowed to train during practical exercises on the model and on the pig jaw - of course with stoma® micro-screws, as well as the appropriate stoma® instruments and sutures. The course was also supported by the companies Botiss and Straumann. Consistently positive feedback came from the participants regarding the speaker Dr. Tunkel, the practical relevance and the atmosphere during the workshop.

During his courses, Dr. Tunkel is often asked which instruments he uses, especially when it comes to special techniques such as GTR, recession coverage or augmentation. He has been working with Stoma for more than 15 years and during this time he has continuously optimized his instrument sets for oral surgery, periodontology, implantology, as well as soft tissue management and augmentation. Together with Dr. Tunkel, we have combined these sets into the Bad Oeynhausen concept to make it easier for users to equip their practice and thus to achieve surgical success.
